Dentures and Repairs

You will likely require multiple appointments to manufacture your custom dentures. Your dentist will take moulds or a scan of your teeth and work with a dental technician to design and make your denture.

Your dentist will discuss with you if any severely damaged or mobile teeth require extraction as part of your treatment plan. Once your denture is ready you will be invited to your fit appointment to check the fit and comfort and make any final adjustments.

When you wear a denture for the first time it may take some getting used to when speaking or eating and chewing. It is important that you take extra care in your hygiene regime so that you can avoid bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease.

The hygienist will be able to show you how to best take care of your denture and gums and will tell you about specialised brushes you can use to do this. The dentures will help support your jaw and face, giving a more natural shape and likely improving your aesthetic appearance.

You are advised to wear them as much as possible but remove them before you go to bed. You should brush and clean your dentures daily, as well as continue to brush inside your mouth and existing teeth.

You should soak your dentures in water overnight and take care not to drop them as they can be easily damaged.
